1.Our approach to security
Ithina connects physical operations, intelligent decision-making and execution through one integrated platform. Because that platform spans devices on the floor, edge gateways, cloud or on-premise software and the enterprise systems around it, security is designed into every layer of the stack rather than added at the end.
Governance and guardrails sit alongside domain intelligence and the agent layer, so recommendations and actions operate within the policies, approval requirements and security controls your business sets.
2.Security across the Ithina stack
Ithina is built as a layered stack, and each layer has a defined security role:
- Hardware and edge devices: cameras, sensors, electronic shelf labels and edge devices capture real-time signals and are connected through Ithina gateways.
- Edge gateways: gateways securely connect distributed hardware and move device data into the Maestro ecosystem, even across large and complex environments.
- Agent layer and domain intelligence: domain-specific AI agents reason over operational context and recommend actions within defined boundaries.
- Governance and guardrails: rules, controls and approvals keep intelligent actions secure, compliant and accountable.
- Integration and API: existing enterprise systems, including POS, RMS and ERP, connect to the Ithina stack through defined integrations.
3.Edge gateways and device connectivity
Ithina edge gateways, such as the IGI-1, are designed with enterprise-grade security. They link the devices in a facility to the platform and move device data securely into Maestro.
- Dedicated wireless connectivity: gateways provide their own wireless connectivity without requiring connection to a customer’s existing IT network.
- Segregated device traffic: because device connectivity does not depend on the corporate network, the day-to-day operation of the hardware is kept apart from your wider IT environment.
- Secure data movement: device data is passed from the edge into the Maestro ecosystem through the gateway rather than directly from individual devices.
4.Deployment options
Ithina supports both cloud and on-premise deployment, so organisations can choose the model that fits their own security, data-residency and operational requirements.
5.Governance and guardrails
AI decisions can affect pricing, margins, inventory, customer experience and physical workflows. That requires more than accuracy; it requires defined governance, permissions and operating controls. Ithina’s guardrails let organisations define the rules that intelligent decisions need to respect before they move toward execution.
Business rules
Organisations set the boundaries that recommendations must stay within. In retail, for example, these can include KVI protection, minimum margin floors, DVL caps, regulatory requirements and blocklists.
Human approval and control
When an action requires human judgement, Command provides the approval layer. Maestro can analyse the situation and surface a recommendation, and an authorised operator can review and approve the action before it is executed. Automation does the heavy lifting while people retain the right level of control.
Controlled execution
Through Command, Maestro’s agents take part in operational workflows while remaining bounded by defined controls, permissions and execution rules. Within the intelligence flow, signals are analysed, guardrails validate the decision, human approval is applied where required, and only then does Command execute.
6.Auditability and accountability
Every AI-assisted decision should leave an auditable record. Ithina creates a documented operational trail across recommendations, approvals and actions, so teams can see what decision was made, why it was made and who authorised it.
- Track the decision.
- Track the approval.
- Track the action.
In physical and regulated environments, this makes decisions explainable, reviewable and ready for investigation when required.
7.Data protection and privacy
How we collect, use, share and retain personal data is described in our Privacy policy, including your rights over that data and how to exercise them. The use of our website is covered by our Terms of service.
8.Reporting a security concern
If you believe you have found a vulnerability, or you have a question about how Ithina secures your deployment, please get in touch through the contact page with as much detail as you can, including the product or page affected and the steps to reproduce the issue. We will review every report.
Please do not access, change or share data that is not yours while investigating, and give us reasonable time to respond before disclosing an issue publicly.
9.Updates to this page
Our security practices evolve with our products and with the threat landscape. We may update this page from time to time, and the latest version will always be the one published on our website.
